You Deserve To Have This Kind of Photo

We all deserve a photo like this with our children. 

We need the chance to look them in the eye to see them for who they are in this moment, reflect on who they've been, and imagine who they are about to become.

We need to stop time, just for a moment, to let the pride we feel for them swell from within us and settle in our gaze at them. 

We need a photo like this, and they do, too. 

They need to see the emotional connection you have with them because it helps develop a sense of belonging and identity. 

It helps honor family history and legacy, and contributes to the ongoing narrative of their family. 

If shows them what it looks like to be loved so deeply. 

As soon as I saw this image, I got teary-eyed because I knew the power of this brief interaction and how it said so much without a word being spoken. I've also been photographing this family since the teens in the family were in preschool, which just made it extra special. 

Capturing this image made me want to create an image like this with each of my children.
